About
British games used to be great. We were, at one point, the third largest developer of videogames in the world. We produced ground breaking titles, with a unique style. Then business became hard and all of our publishers failed. Once this happened, our developers were forced to work with more international publishers, primarily in America. This meant that our games had to be “more American”, losing a lot of their unique British style and humour.
Here at BritishIndie, we want to see those unique games again. Unfortunately the reality is that the only people who can produce them these days tend to be independantly owned companies who develop games on thier own (often very small) budgets. This site is dedicated to sharing and promoting the best independant British games. We want you to not just understand the games, but the people creating them and thier motivations. We want you to understand how much of a struggle it is, but also how creative these developers are.
We also want to foster that independance of mind in younger developers. We want the creative force of British game developers to be the power it once was. Digital delivery methods are only now holding up the opportunity for this to really happen. As you will read in our interviews and news, British developers are finally getting the opportunity to be able to address a worldwide audience. We hope you will support them in thier efforts and us in ours, by taking part in the forums or by letting us know of any news that relates to British game development.
We hope you enjoy the site!
Hello Phil,
Is there any chance of a forum?
Sure is. I’ve been looking at different forum software this last week. Should be getting a vBulletin board up sometime in the next few days.
Great site and I really like the interviews. Very interesting.
All the best for the site.
Mike.
